Each season, 3GT will work with an invited group of Bay Area women playwrights to develop their scripts and mount their productions. Our Fresh New Works Program comprises two projects: the New Play Project and the “Girls Get It Up” biannual play competition.
New Play Project: Each season we intend to develop and produce as many as two full-length new plays in-house. Plays will be recommended to the Board for world premiere by 3GT’s Literary Director (drawing on work by our 3 resident playwrights and 5 associate playwrights), and developed using a core group of associate artist actors and technicians. Our ongoing support activities for 3GT playwrights will include dramaturgy, workshops and private “table reading” sessions for plays in development, as well as an annual Holiday Benefit Showcase featuring new short works.
“Girls Get It Up” Play Competition. Biannually, 3GT will sponsor a national competition for full-length plays written by American women (a topic will be chosen for each competition). 3GT will give the winner of the competition a staged reading of her production in San Francisco. Our first competition will take place in 2013.
