3GT’s mission includes reaching out to the community for imaginative new ways to put women’s voices on stage. In addition to developing the the new works showcased in our Salon Reading Series, we are committed to collaborating with artists and innovators outside of the Company on special outreach projects. Our Special Projects are intended to create partnerships and programs that will introduce us– and our Bay Area audiences– to other women playwrights, to new ways of presenting women’s views on issues, and to educational opportunities for all kinds (and ages) of playwrights. These special projects can be anything from a one-time class or reading through an annual series. The sky’s the limit (well, the amount of money we have to spend is the limit. . . . but otherwise, it’s the sky!)
Our community of course includes other playwrights — men, women, teenagers! 3GT sponsors educational outreach by our Resident Playwrights and Associate Artists. Currently, we teach adult playwrights in our Theatre Lab workshops, nurture the voices of young women in our GirlWrights program, and establish partnerships with Bay Area high schools through our 3GT Residencies program.
